Plasma Oxytocin Changes in Response to Music Modified by Sound Amplification Technology Compared to Non-modified Control Music in Healthy Controls and Patients with AVP Deficiency
Descrizione riassuntiva dello studio
The aim of this scientific study is to investigate the concentration of oxytocin using music modified by sound amplification technology in healthy participants. Small previous studies have demonstrated oxytocin release in healthy individuals with this modified music. We now want to investigate whether this is reproducible.
Oxytocin is a hormone produced in the brain and released into the bloodstream by the pituitary gland. It is involved in important psychosocial aspects and has a positive influence on the mother-child relationship, as well as feelings such as love, trust, and relaxation. In some conditions, such as in patients with pituitary gland disorders, a reduced concentration of oxytocin in the blood is suspected. This could explain why patients often experience symptoms such as anxiety and depression. Music modified by sound amplification technology is a new technology that is taking its first steps in medicine. Currently, sound amplification technology is not approved as a medical intervention but has been used in various studies with healthy subjects. Some studies have shown that this modified music leads to an increase in oxytocin in healthy participants.
