Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for Fractures in the Dental, Oral, and Maxillofacial Area
Résumé de l'étude
Dental, oral, and maxillofacial trauma represents a common public health issue, with most cases resulting from accidents and frequently occurring in young adults. Diagnosis relies on clinical examination and imaging techniques such as computed tomography (CT) and digital volume tomography (DVT), which are standard for assessing hard tissue but expose patients to ionizing radiation. To reduce radiation exposure while enabling visualization of soft tissues, newer imaging methods are being explored, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). New MRI techniques offer high-resolution alternatives and are promising for diagnosing soft tissue injuries and fractures without radiation risk, which is particularly beneficial for younger patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic capabilities of MRI in oral, jaw, and facial fractures, focusing on early diagnosis, reducing artifacts, and comparing it with conventional X-ray-based imaging in a minimal-risk study.

Intervention étudiée
If you participate in the study, you will receive the same clinical and radiological care as any other patient with a fracture. Your treatment will not differ in any way from standard care. In addition to the usual measures, an MRI examination will be conducted before and another after the surgery.
