Effects of LSD on Neuroplasticity in Healthy Individuals Over 55 Years Old

Zusammenfassung der Studie

This study investigates whether LSD treatments can improve neuroplasticity, i.e., the brain's ability to organize itself, in individuals aged 55 and older. Such findings could be valuable for the development of new therapies for mental disorders. Interested healthy individuals who meet the study criteria will participate over 3 months in 7 laboratory visits. They will receive a randomly determined dose of LSD between 0 and 0.1 mg. Neither they nor the team know which dose they are receiving (double-blind study). LSD can temporarily alter perception but is safe in studies. Long-term effects are unknown. Potential effects will be discussed prior to ingestion. A researcher will always be available to assist you during the study. EEG measurements will be conducted, blood samples will be taken, and you will complete tasks on a computer as well as fill out questionnaires. The study complies with Swiss laws and has been approved by the local ethics committee. Your data will be treated confidentially.

As part of the study, you will take between 0 and 0.1 mg (100 micrograms) of LSD in an alcoholic liquid.
