MERIT - Monitoring Early Response of Inpatient Treatment
Descrizione riassuntiva dello studio
Psychotherapy is an effective method for treating mental disorders. However, patients whose symptoms do not change as expected through psychotherapy are often identified too late. To detect such patients as early as possible, it has proven helpful in outpatient treatments to regularly assess the psychological state and treatment progress of patients and report this back to the therapeutic professional. This makes the treatment course of patients visible and allows the treatment to be tailored to their needs. So far, it has not been investigated whether this method can also improve treatment success in inpatient care for adolescents with mental disorders. The MERIT project aims to investigate whether the regular assessment of psychological state and treatment progress, as well as feedback to therapeutic professionals, helps improve treatment success in adolescents in inpatient psychiatric care.

Intervento studiato
During the study, we will accompany the patients throughout their entire inpatient treatment and regularly ask them questions about their mental health and treatment progress. Additionally, the patients will be randomly assigned to one of two groups (feedback group / control group). In the feedback group, the therapeutic professional receives weekly feedback on the psychological state and treatment progress. In the control group, the therapeutic professional does not receive such feedback.
